The DJI Phantom has many high tech features, it has its own GPS positioning system, attitude control, software flight controller, flight plans with own algorithm for understanding position and orientation and presetting governance to the flight plan.  The DJI company has a good reputation for designing quality flight controllers.

The extras needed for quality UAV Photography.

This DJI Phantom being reviewed has a GoPro Hero 3 digital camera attached to it, this is a multi purpose action camera designed for various action sports, it also has a vibration dampening for the specifically designed multi-axis camera gimbal, these items don’t come with the basic package, they need to be purchased as extra. Also the 4 rotor propeller guards to protect the propellers from stalling or damaging/getting damaged by accidental involuntarily bumping into an object.  There is a water proof housing available for the GoPro 3 camera, it is water proof down to 60 meters.  Not sure how water proof the Phantom Drone is if caught flying in a shower of rain.

What’s in the package:

  • Phantom Quadcopter.
  • Pre-balanced set of spare props.
  • Flight controller.
  • Battery charger.

  1. I have one of these reserved, should be out end of May hopefully or early June. The GoPro intergration will kick ass

  2. Mine works great, if you follow the directions closely and know what you are doing it works perfect.

  3. Awesome, I have mine and I finally connected to the computer to enable IOC and Manual Mode. MM will take some getting used to. Can’t wait to get the gimbal. Where, and when, can I get the gimbal?

  4. I found the best ceramic bearing upgrade for the Phantom. Ebay has the ceramic high speed bearing thrust washers and retaining clips for these motors and for the F-450 and 550 flame wheel .This is the best improvement for FPV video quality reduces a lot of harmonic resonance .Just type in phantom motor bearings and find a list of motor upgrades! Have fun Phantom fans!!

  5. You’re lucky ! Most had their Phantom flew away. Just wondering mate how long does it take you from the time you plug in the battery till you get the green light? Thanks
