How to eliminate the distraction of a camera vibration and shake

One of the biggest distractions of videos is the unsteady video camera, the camera may be shaking or that the person doing the shooting did not pay attention to the tilt of the camera and the awkward video viewing angle.

There are many great occasions when video recording the environment or a scene that is done while moving. I can think of many occasions when I was doing something in a particular season of the year and i was capturing the environment while moving. I was moving either on foot walking, riding a bike, skiing or snowboarding.

The interesting highlights are the seasonal changes and the colours; you can imagine how great it all looks on a video, in the autumn season, Riding a bike and capturing the blur of the leave colours as you ride over them.

Similarly sliding down a fresh snow covered slope, in the early morning light, on a set of skies or a snowboard.  Likewise  it may be a scene when the person is walking while recording the great outdoors, or the indoors of a building, at a show, a shopping mall or the farmers markets. The steady moving video camera is just one way to make the video content more interesting and not compromise on the quality of a steady video recording.

New DJI gadget named OSMO saves the day

When recording video from a still position, most commonly it is done using a tripod. With a tripod the camera shake is eliminated and the viewing of the video is great. However that is not always possible of practical reasons as mentioned, and it is not necessarily the most creative way to capture particular action of the moment. The moving steady big production movie camera is seen all the time, on the screen, and the movies on TV use an stabilization system designed to give the camera operator boom crane, or the independence of an handheld gimbal while shooting a video without the camera vibration or shake.

How to keep video camera steady without a system.

Having a solid steady standing or sitting position can help to keep the camera steady. The elbow positions close to the chest can also help. Leaning on something can give support like the third leg on a tripod. Kneeling down can provide support to the camera, or lying down can similarly make the video recording more steady. But movement, then obviously becomes very difficult simultaneously.

What to do?  How to achieve movement and a steady video footage.

Using a wide angel lens can help some, the further you go the more steady it appears to get, and the reverse is also true, zoom in, and the shake becomes very obvious.
