DJI Phantom Niagara falls video is a great intro video.
on the potential of DJI Phantom drone with a Go-Pro camera on board. An inexpensive entry level drone to fly over such a danger spot as the Niagara Falls is a great stunt. The video footage captures the motion of water cascading down over the ledge of the high cliff walls on down to the depths of the deep gorge, the impact of the water falling down and impacting rocks and water causes the water to crack open and become airborne mist that shrouds by hanging over the water fall impact.
The DJI Phantom with a Go-Pro camera captures the large volumes of water breaking over the cliff edge as in slow motion and plummeting down in a free fall.
This is no place for a drone to run out of batteries or to have a mechanical failure, as for the failure it would most likely be a descent down to the watery depths of the Niagara rocks. The DJI Phantom does have a safety feature that will kick in when the batteries are getting low, and it will ascend up to a given altitude of about 60 feet, and return back to the location of the flight launch in auto pilot.
A DJI Phantom Drone with a Go-Pro 3 camera is a light weight camera, it only weights 73 grams.
Thw DJI Phantom drone also has many available accessories, there is either a 2 or a 3 axis gimble available for the DJI Phantom. Other accessories for the Phantom drone are; propeller guards, the set of guards (4) will protect the propellers from stopping and stalling the flight it it hits and object or a wall, it is also a safety feature in case the drone is flown into the path of a person or a pet animal, the eyes being the most vulnerable area fro damage.

having just been to Niagara a few weeks ago, I especially enjoyed this, but regardless–you did a wonderful job! i did not recall seeing the “island” of trees at the rim of the falls,plus you also had wonderful natural lighting. also, nice choice of tunage to go along with it.

How did you know where to position the quadcopter for the good shots you wanted? I assume you couldn’t really see in real time what camera angles you were getting, right? Or did you have some kind of live video feed?
